Who is Edith Rose? A Miracle for sure!
There is something incredibly special when parents open their hearts and share their preemie journey with us. While we're honored to clothe thousands of tiny warriors each year through Perfectly Preemie, connecting personally with families and hearing their stories is precious. One such connection has been with @increase_peace on Instagram, who graciously agreed to share her daughter's remarkable journey with our community.
Here's her story
"Hello, my name is Pepper, and I'd like to share our incredible NICU journey. What started as a routine ultrasound appointment on September 4th quickly turned into an emergency when doctors discovered I had a shortened cervix. I was immediately admitted to the hospital, and by 10 PM that same night, my water broke at just 19 weeks. We lost all amniotic fluid, and multiple doctors warned us our baby would only survive 24-48 hours.
But we didn't give up. At 21 weeks, we decided to transfer to Winnie Palmer Hospital in Orlando, which specializes in premature babies. On September 21st, 2024, at exactly 22 weeks gestation, our precious Edith Rose was born at 5:03 PM, weighing 480 grams and measuring 10.5 inches long โ four months before her original due date of January 25th, 2025.
Since birth, Edith Rose has been on an incredible journey. She's undergone major surgeries and received endless love from her amazing NICU nurses. Almost 5 months later, our tiny fighter has grown to 7 pounds! As first-time NICU parents, this experience has been a rollercoaster of emotions. While some days are harder than others, it's the little things that make the biggest difference โ like being able to dress her in Perfectly Preemie's NICU-friendly clothing. These specially designed outfits, with their adorable patterns and accommodation for tubes and wires, help us feel a sense of normalcy in our journey.
To any parents feeling lost or uncertain, I want to say, DON'T GIVE UP. Fight with everything you have! Every day is beautiful and always trust your instincts.
-Pepper"
